Greetings Commanders!
This is just a heads-up to let you know that soon both the “UID” and the “Steam Link” system will be updated to improve our counter-measures against smurfing and fake accounts.
This will involve a new release of the Lobby Client that will be mandatory.
We are planning to introduce these changes in a gradual manner with no extended downtime.
Here is a reminder of the FAF rules and technical measures to combat smurfing:
- The UID system locks your computer to your account. This means that a given computer can only be used with one FAF account. Computers can not be “shared” between more than one FAF Account, unless you use Steam Link to override the UID system:
- The Steam Link system links your FAF account with your Steam account. After logging you into Steam, the system checks whether you own Forged Alliance on Steam. If your account is linked to a valid Steam ID, the UID system is ignored.
