Game Patch 3697 Released

Greetings Commanders! IceDreamer reporting…

Today sees a very special occasion. Due to real life circumstances, the time I’ve been able to personally spend coding and curating the game’s code-base has been much smaller the last few months. Thanks to that, a new approach was required, one where I took a back-seat, big-picture view and encouraged regular contributors and testers to not only continue their usual brilliant help, but to create, review, test, curate, merge, and assemble the patch itself between themselves. They rose to the occasion magnificently, and I am extremely proud of what this team of volunteers has accomplished: A true community-led patch.

The changelog is impressive, and can be found here. Highlights include:
– The ability to double-click walls to select them
– Improved performance
– AI takeover to minimize disconnect impact

Please direct any feedback to the dedicated forum thread

Enjoy the carnage, Commanders!

IceDreamer out.

Game Patch 3692, Shared Armies and FAF Promotional Video

Season’s greetings commanders!

We are very pleased to be able to announce a nice, patch-shaped welcome to December. Some highlights…

– An overhauled and refined lobby Mod Manager
– Fixes for some game crash bugs
– Salvation reclassified as an Experimental unit

As always, the full changelog can be found here.

This time though, there’s more! Alongside the game files, we have also updated the game’s core EXE file in such a way as to allow the long-awaited Shared Armies mode! Currently, you will need to download the alpha version of the Shared Armies mod from the Vault and read the changelog for how to set up your lobby, but it will allow you to play games where multiple people control one army. I highly recommend trying it out. Close teamwork is essential, and voice communication is probably going to be a core part of it, but I expect to see some great tournament proposals using this in the coming months.

Finally, Medicraze has continued his work on high-quality video production to create a promotional video for FAF! It can be viewed here, and it’s worth sending to all those silly friends who haven’t become hooked by this game yet. Thank you Medicraze!

Happy hunting!

Fantastic “Official VS Downlord’s” FAF Client video

Created by Medicraze, this fabulous bit of work is a quick, friendly explanation of the more important features, similarities, and differences between the two available game clients.

I think it’s especially useful for newer or very casual players to take a look. It’s less than 4 minutes of your time!

Hotfix Patch 3689

This is just a small follow-up to the 3688 balance patch. There are three changes:

– Fixed a bug that caused units to give 100% veterancy points instead of a fraction depending on their remaining HP on death when getting destroyed by self destruction.
– Fixed ACUs giving too much veterancy to other ACUs when being killed.
– Fixed shields recharging many times faster than intended.

This also includes amendments to the old patchnotes, adding details on unit regen, and correcting an error. Shields aren’t meant to regen faster or start regening faster. The change is only meant to make shields heal smoothly instead of in 1s chunks, a largely aesthetic change.
